JULIA MANIPELLA
Julia Manipella is a visual storyteller and multimedia journalist with a diverse portfolio of international work in photojournalism, long-form documentaries, shorts, and multimedia projects. Using strong editorial and news judgment Julia produces, shoots, and disseminates timely and accurate visual first work in a fast-paced deadline-driven industry.
An avid outdoors enthusiast, and long-time climber, hiker, backpacker, skier, and runner; what time not spent behind the camera or keyboard you can probably find her outside somewhere. Her strategic communication skills, team management, and risk analysis were further developed by working as and later managing backcountry rock climbing instructors at Philmont Scout Ranch.
Julia was awarded the 2023 Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellowship to create a documentary and photo stories in Dhaka, Bangladesh. At the University of Oklahoma, Julia received the Overall Outstanding Senior award from the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communications and was a finalist for the Outstanding Senior award from the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences.
While based in Washington, DC, Manipella covered national news, from Capitol Hill and the White House. Her months-long reporting stints have curated her passion for accurate, intentional, and solution-based community storytelling.
