While working in Washington, D.C. in 2023 shoulder to shoulder with some of our nation’s top political and visual journalists there were tangible shifts in industry and democracy in the US. From the speaker’s race to shut down coverage, many are on edge. This independently shot and produced piece In Journalism, We Trust highlights that energy through a long-format news story. Intentionally shot Manipella invites the audience to sit through the discomfort of a slow wide production to listen to what the subjects are saying about the 24/7 cycle we’re consumed by and what we’ve lost in it. The repetition of silhouettes and depth plays on the energy of what a new day will bring to the field of journalism.
